They may pick up words through repetition, games, and targeted learning exercises—not just adding words to their vocabulary, but learning what they mean, too.
- Forming sentences. With clear and comprehensible sentences, kids can express themselves, communicate with peers and adults, and build confidence in themselves. At three years old, children start to form sentences of three words or more. As they do so, they’re learning to pronounce their words clearly and discovering the order of words.
- Learning ABCs. The preschool years can be a crucial time for getting familiar with the alphabet and with letter sounds (phonics). It’s also an important step for kindergarten-readiness, ensuring that children have the skills they need to prepare for school!
