Severna Park Celebree Learning Center Celebrates Dr. Seuss’s Birthday | Celebree School

Theodor Seuss Geisel, known to us all as Dr. Seuss, was born in Springield, MA on March  2, 1904, and our Severna Park center celebrated with a week of fun-filled educational activities.

Student shows off her Dr. Seuss artwork Teacher and student read Dr. Seuss together

Earlier in the week, children brought in t-shirts to create a class full of “Things.”

Celebrating Dr. Seuss is twice as fun at Celebree! Student modeling a Dr. Seuss "Thing" t-shirt

After reading the story Green Eggs & Ham, the children created a graph (focusing on math enhancements) where they recorded whether they did or did not like them.  They also made a chart on which they guessed how many inches a Bar-ba-loot would grow. Then, they measured how many inches that would look like!

Teachers 1 and 2, how do you do! Children charted their guesses of how many inches a Bar-ba-loot would grow

They also read Horton Hears a Who, made Cat in the Hat hats and Thing prints, and created a “Who’s Who of Who-ville” where they each drew a self-portrait!

Dressing up for Dr. Seuss is a team effort Celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday was fun for the whole class

Parents were so excited about the fun activities that some volunteered to come in to read Dr. Seuss books themselves. You’re never too old for Dr. Seuss.
