What is STEAM – & What Are Its Benefits?

STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics. Since these are all a part of daily life, we believe these areas should be a part of a child’s education – right from the start. It’s why we’ve developed our day care curriculum based on STEAM, which guides our lessons and activities each day.

With it, we tie together areas like art and math, and science and technology to help children make connections about the world around them. We also bring our lessons to life in a hands-on, experiential way, which keeps children engaged and motivated to continue moving ahead, meeting milestones as they do. 

For instance, everything from reading and discussions to experiments, observations, and art and science projects are all a part of the learning process. This is all done in a fun and age-appropriate way, so learning feels like play time for your child. 

Through this all, we encourage children to ask questions, investigate answers, look for new and different ways to solve problems, and work through the creative process. As a result, they gain critical thinking and problem solving skills, learn to collaborate with others, and more. They also learn how to communicate about what they have learned, building their vocabulary and confidence along the way.
