When you’re searching for summer camps in Woodstock, MD, you may be hoping to find a program that does more than fill the day.

You want your child moving. Creating. Asking questions. Figuring things out on their own.

Curiosity deserves room to grow. At Celebree School of Waverly Woods, STEM-focused summer camp invites children to build, experiment, and collaborate in ways that feel exciting, not academic.

What Does “Hands-On STEM” Mean at Camp?

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. In a summer camp setting, it’s active and accessible. Children may:

  • Design and test different structures

  • Explore motion using ramps or simple machines

  • Measure and compare materials during projects

  • Experiment with water flow and buoyancy

  • Observe changes in natural environments

Instead of being told how something works, children discover it through experience. Teachers guide learning with open-ended questions that deepen thinking and encourage reflection.

    Engineering Challenges That Encourage Persistence

Construction projects often become the highlight of the week. Campers might:

    • Build towers that must meet a specific goal

    • Create bridges using limited supplies

    • Design marble runs that require adjustment

When designs fail, children regroup. They analyze what happened and revise their approach. That willingness to adapt builds confidence and resilience.

      Science Beyond the Classroom Walls

Outdoor exploration plays a meaningful role in STEM learning. At Celebree School of Waverly Woods, children may:

      • Study how sunlight affects surfaces

      • Compare plant growth in different conditions

      • Observe patterns in weather and temperature

      • Sort and classify natural materials

Science feels relevant when it’s connected to real-world observation.

        Learning Together

STEM activities often involve teamwork. Through collaboration, children practice:

        • Sharing ideas clearly

        • Listening to peers’ perspectives

        • Dividing responsibilities

        • Celebrating collective success

Teachers support respectful communication and guide problem-solving as it happens. These social skills strengthen both camp experiences and classroom readiness.

What You May Notice at Home

After participating in summer camp at Celebree School of Waverly Woods, you may notice your child:

          • Talking excitedly about something they built

          • Asking thoughtful “how” and “why” questions

          • Showing persistence when facing a challenge

          • Demonstrating pride in independent accomplishments

They’ll still come home with summer energy and stories about friends. But alongside the fun, you’ll see growing curiosity and confidence—skills that last long after summer ends.
