As a working mom, summer is looking different from what I expected!
For some people, summer break usually entails slow mornings and carefree afternoons, yet as working moms, for most of us, that isn’t exactly our reality. Thanks to Celebree School of Stafford, my daughter is still enjoying a play-based learning day, but as the days grow longer, our weekends and evenings start to look different. I find myself wanting to spend every moment of free time with my toddler, yet I still want to maintain the balance of education and exploration.
There are multiple ways to create educational moments out of our everyday activities, such as matching fruit names and colors throughout the grocery store, playing I Spy on walks after dinner, or even including the little one in meal preparation. Celebree has taught our family that learning doesn’t stop once children leave for the day; it’s built through our everyday routines and conversations.
As a parent, it’s easy to scroll social media and compare yourself to others, wondering if you’re doing enough. I’ve realized my daughter doesn’t need a picture-perfect summer, just one that includes lots of laughter and room for curiosity. Summer can look different for working families, but it doesn’t mean any less meaningful.
