I can’t be the only parent out there who believed kindergarten prep started in literal Pre-K, it’s easy to picture the work starts in the final year before elementary school. While watching my toddler grow at Celebree School of Stafford, I’ve learned that readiness has started from the first day she began learning with others. In the three’s classroom long before sight words become regular or an introduction to simple math the children are already learning important skills that aren’t recorded on a report card.
Patience is learned through taking turns with toys or activity spaces, confidence built through finding their voice and communicating with peers, and understanding that mistakes can be a crucial part of learning. When kindergarten finally arrives, it isn’t just a backpack they’re bringing with them but newfound confidence and curiosity. They’re ready to ask for help when they need it, take the leap to make a friend and most importantly keep trying when something feels difficult.
