What Is Interest-Based Learning & How Is It Different?

Most times, teachers guide children through different activities during the day, controlling the dynamic of the classroom as they do. Each child is taught in the same way, without a lot of room for creativity and individuality.

Instead, with interest-based learning, it is child-led, so teachers are using what interests a particular student as a way to reach and teach them. They also collaborate more with each child, getting to know them and their strengths, abilities, and personality. With it, our preschool teachers can access a full library of resources with the touch of a screen. For instance, if a child shows an interest in plants and growing, then their teacher can focus him or her on that topic. They will learn key skills, from early literacy to math and science, extending their love for growing and plants into all domains of learning.
