At Celebree School of Nottingham, our families know that owner Katie Young is not only a dedicated leader but also a mom of four who understands firsthand the joys and challenges of raising young children. Recently, Katie brought that personal experience to a wider audience when she appeared on WJZ at 9 CBS Baltimore to talk about real-life parenting struggles, and how to navigate them with confidence and compassion.
On-air, Katie introduced viewers to her “Parenting Tips Wheel,” a fun, interactive way to spark conversations about common challenges parents face. As the wheel spun, she shared practical, encouraging advice on topics like:
- Bedtime struggles: Build healthy routines early and keep them fun.
- Balancing screen time: Create a reward system, set limits, and be engaged in what your child is watching.
- Overstimulation in public: Regulate your own energy, take “reset” breaks, and know when it’s time to head home.
- Healthy eating habits: Model good choices and involve your children in the process.
- Working mom guilt: Flip the perspective to focus on what your child gains from every experience.
- Restaurant tantrums: Come prepared with activities, set realistic expectations, and use mealtime for family connection.
Katie’s approachable style and “we’re in this together” message resonated with parents across the Baltimore area, but especially with our Nottingham families, who know she leads our school with the same empathy, energy, and passion she brings to her own parenting.
In the interview, Katie also highlighted our mission here at Celebree School of Nottingham: partnering with families to nurture the whole child — academically, socially, and emotionally — while providing a safe, loving environment for learning and growth.
We’re so proud of Katie for sharing her heart and expertise on such a respected platform, and for representing our Nottingham community so beautifully.
