Ending the Drop Off Drama<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Most parents will tell you that the hardest part of\u00a0the daycare day\u00a0is\u00a0drop-off. For some children who suffer from separation\u00a0anxiety,\u00a0this can be a complex issue. Our blog on separation anxiety<\/a> has some tips,\u00a0more\u00a0specifically for those struggles. However, for most, the drop-off drama has more to do with outside influences than internal turmoil.\u00a0<\/span>It\u2019s\u00a0too hot,\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0too cold, I want to carry my backpack today, the door bumped me when you opened it, I just\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0wannnnnnnnt\u00a0to go to school today.\u00a0<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We want to be able to support our families from the start to the end of the day, and here are some ways we make the morning transition as smooth as possible. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A Friendly Face at the Door<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

A member of our admin team is always on site to help with drop-off\u00a0and pick-up. We hold doors when hands are full, keep an eye on\u00a0kids\u00a0when\u00a0you\u2019ve\u00a0forgotten something in the car, and\u00a0greet kids for the day ahead. We are setting the tone by\u00a0putting on\u00a0music throughout the building and making sure classrooms are ready. You never walk into a dark\u00a0school,\u00a0and with an admin on\u00a0site,\u00a0a question never has to wait until later or go unanswered. This also allows the admin team to connect with students each morning, so that during the day, as we support classrooms, we are familiar faces, not mysterious strangers. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Communication is Everything<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Parents should know what room their child is going to and who will be greeting them when they get there. While some days traffic or illness can cause commotion,\u00a0Celebree\u00a0strives to keep our staffing consistent and our communication clear. If a staff member is out, parents are informed\u00a0at the front desk\u00a0who will be subbing in their child\u2019s class.\u00a0Children are made aware of planned absences,\u00a0so that\u00a0they\u00a0aren\u2019t\u00a0surprised when a beloved teacher is missing. Part of each new\u00a0employee\u2019s\u00a0training is spending time in each classroom, connecting with children, so that when they need to step\u00a0into\u00a0a class, everyone is comfortable.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Routines and Rituals<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Our classrooms run on routines and rituals so that children are confident and comfortable with the day ahead.\u00a0Part of the routine involves reviewing activities for the upcoming days and discussing the classes\u2019 current study. This helps build\u00a0excitement and anticipation. Our teachers take time and intention when making lesson plans, and those activities foster excitement about learning!\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Our school also has small,\u00a0fun daily\u00a0activities. These calendars, shared monthly, include days like\u00a0PJ Day, Make a Gift Day, and Caroling day! Little\u00a0excitements\u00a0add\u00a0a lot to the routine of going to school every day, and\u00a0utilizing\u00a0these connection activities allows excitement to travel from home to school. Everyone likes to show off their new cool PJs!\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

AM Activities<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

We want our kids to\u00a0be excited from the moment they walk in the door, but we also want\u00a0walking\u00a0in the door to feel safe. It can be overwhelming if a child walks into a classroom that is full of noise, crowded, and rowdy. AM Activities are the antidote to that chaos. Each day, teachers set out a few activities at their tables. These activities can be themed to classroom studies, seasonal, or just special toys that are only available in the morning. These activities are designed to give children something new to look forward to each day, but also to engage children from the moment they walk in the door. This\u00a0allows\u00a0smooth transitions as children can place their items in their cubbies, head over to the tables, and greet their friends at their own pace. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Making\u00a0Everyday\u00a0an Exciting One<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

One of the most important parts of early childhood education is instilling a love of learning. We are most children\u2019s first concept of \u201cschool\u201d.\u00a0When\u00a0we\u2019re\u00a0doing our job well, children are excited about what they learn in class, who they interact with, and what\u00a0new\u00a0surprise awaits them the next day.\u00a0Even if they are a little nervous at the drop-off door.\u00a0We want everyone,\u00a0parents\u00a0and children, to arrive at school\u00a0saying,\u00a0\u201cI can\u2019t wait to see what we learn today!\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
