What does reading mean to you?
I used to love reading when I was a child and someone how I got away from it when I went off to college and had my own children. I was just to busy with my day to day to pick up a book. It wasn’t until a few years ago that I really got back into reading and was reminded of just what it does for not just us as individuals but as families.
Reading can be a time to bond and connect as a family. It can be a way to transform your home into a magical realm for you and your children to explore. It can be so many things and it has so many educational benefits. It helps to promote social and emotional development, vocabulary and language development and helps strengthen cognitive development. The list goes on and on.
Not only that but it’s a time that your children will have with them for the rest of their lives. They will talk about how they used to read books on the couch with their parents every night and hopefully carry that tradition on with their families setting up future generations for literacy success.
I like to think of my reading now as a part of my selfcare. I can move to different places all over the world and universe and never leave my living room. I wish that peace and selfcare for all of my kids and families.
