Child Care Adjustment Period: Helping Children Thrive in a New School Environment | Celebree School of Cross Creek Ranch

With more families joining our Celebree family I wanted to talk about the adjustment period when it comes to bring your child to a new school. I tell all families regardless of if your child has been to school before or not it takes time for them to adjust and it is completely normal. It usually takes around 2 to 3 weeks for a child to get acclimated to their new environment. This is different for every child. Some will take a little longer and some will walk in day one like they have been there forever.

I try to prepare parents because sometimes it can be hard for you to leave your baby. Especially when they are standing at the door crying and saying mommy, please don’t go. I agree the tears tend to fall a little bit harder when you must look your baby in the face and hear that. But hear me when I say it is completely normal and they will be ok. I promise. You are leaving your child in the best hands possible. It takes time for them to get adjusted and we must give them the chance to bond with their teacher and get used to their new environment.

Keeping them on the same routine will really help them to adjust a little quicker and being consistent. Children thrive on routines and the quicker they adjust to their new one the easier it’s going to be for parents. Always remember if you are struggling with morning drop off, please come talk to us and remember you are more than welcome to come hang out with us in the lobby! Thank you so much for your continued partnership. We have amazing parents. As always if you need anything please stop by the front and speak with us!
