Language is an important part of communication. It’s a tool we use to express ourselves and be understood.

It is important to note that our children use language to be able to communicate their needs, emotions, and thoughts. It also allows them to interact with their peers, which is crucial to their growth and development.

In the study Brilliant Bilingual Babies published by HeadStart, it was indicated that learning more than one language has many benefits, which include cognitive skills like working memory, directing attention, and impulse inhibition.

Here are the benefits of learning a second language:

Improved Focus and Attention

When a child learns multiple languages, a sort of competition happens in their brain, sending a signal to resolve this internal conflict by switching to and from one language to another.

In this process, the child’s brain will learn how to prioritize information and ignore distractions, which in turn improves the child’s ability to focus and concentrate.

Boost Cognitive Development

The brain’s cognitive function enables us to think, read, learn, remember, reason, and pay attention.

Boosting the child’s cognitive skills by learning a second language will enhance memory, concentration, and listening skills. At the same time, it will also help improve their ability to do several tasks at once, plan, develop critical thinking, and solve complex problems.

Enhance Cultural Awareness

Learning a second language exposes a child to a culture different from their own. It opens up their eyes to a different perspective and instills a more positive, tolerant, and empathetic approach to a diverse society such as ours.

Breeds Curiosity

Children are born with natural curiosity. Learning a new language allows them to explore and discover new things about our world. It piques their interest to learn more.

Stimulate Creativity

When a child tries to learn a new language, their brain experiences a constant workout that sparks creativity.

At Celebree School of Ashburn Farms, we recognize the importance of language in early childhood development.

Because we wanted what’s best for our children, we began offering Spanish classes in our curriculum.

Why Spanish?

According to Google Facts, Spanish is one of the most commonly studied languages. It is ranked third as the most commonly used language on the internet with 7.9 percent, making it the second most commonly used language on digital platforms.

In 2015, the Guardian published an article stating that the United States is now the world’s second-largest Spanish-speaking country after Mexico.

So what do you say?

Empecemos a aprender Español hoy! Let’s start learning Spanish today!
[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]
